Former NTV journalist, the late Rita Tinina will be laid to rest Wednesday, March 27, 2024 in Narok County. This will be preceded by a requiem mass on Monday, March 25, 2024, at a venue yet to be communicated. This is according to Rita Tinina’s family and friends’ who released the information via a WhatsApp group.
“A Requiem mass will be held Monday, March 25th, 2024. Venue to be confirmed between Don Bosco church in UpperHill or Holy Family Basilica Church.
Once the venue is known, the time shall be confirmed. After the mass Rita’s body shall be transferred to Umash mortuary in Nakuru,” a message to friends and family read.
The body of the renowned NTV journalist was found at her residence in Kileleshwa, Nairobi on Sunday, 17th March 2024.
On the day of her passing, Rita failed to show up at work where she was expected. Her workmates attempted to contact her through her phone but the calls went un-responded. This raised concerns that forced her colleagues to visit her home only to find out she was no more.
According to an autopsy conducted on Tuesday, March 19 Rita succumbed to pneumonia. This is according to government Pathologist Peter Ndegwa, who conducted the autopsy on March 19, 2024, at the Umash Funeral Home.
The family spokesperson, Mr. Timothy Njaga, confirmed the results of the autopsy, noting that they are pleased with the outcome.
“The pathologist has done the postmortem and concluded Rita died out of severe pneumonia,” he stated.
Kenyans from all walks of life sent in their condolence messages after learning about Rita’s sudden demise. From politicians, business leaders to Rita’s fans it was all praise for the late journalist with many referring to her as a trailblazer in the media industry. Others remembered her as a mentor and someone who had a passion for her work.
