Former Politician Jailed for Brutal Murder of Ex-Wife! A former Kenyan MCA has received a lengthy prison sentence for his role in the horrific killing of his ex-spouse. Samuel Ndungu Njoroge appeared before Judge Joel Ngugi in Kiambu High Court on Friday, where he and two others were convicted for the 2018 murder of Lucy Njambi Nyagiko.

Njoroge, formerly the ward representative for Riruta, was given 30 years behind bars for orchestrating the brutal attack. The court heard how the 25-year-old victim was kidnapped from her home, raped, doused in acid, and left for dead in an unspeakably cruel act of gender-based violence.
Sadly, Lucy succumbed to her injuries days later in hospital. Her tragic murder sent shockwaves through the community and highlighted the scourge of domestic abuse in the country. Delivering the stern sentence, Justice Ngugi condemned the “sadistic” nature of the crime, saying it demonstrated the extreme lengths intimate partner violence can reach.
The judge also found Njoroge had a documented pattern of aggression and assault against women, indicating marital issues as the likely motive. Two accomplices – Joyce Njambi Mungai and Wilson Mwangi Munyua – received the same punishment for aiding and abetting the attack.
Records showed Mungai purchased the acid used in the assault, while mobile phone metadata placed Munyua at the scene. In handing down the maximum penalty, Ngugi underscored the seriousness of harming another so viciously, reportedly stating such brutality “cannot go unpunished.”
Lucy’s family hopes the verdict brings them a small sense of justice and closure after years of pain. Her tragic demise highlights the need for stronger laws and societal norms protecting Kenyan women from deadly domestic disputes.
