Former Governor Sonko Plays Peacemaker After Rescuing Blogger Kibe from an Angry Mob! A tense situation quickly escalated in Nairobi after blogger Andrew Kibe found himself surrounded by an irate mob during a recent live stream. Fortunately for Kibe, he was being interviewed by no other than former Governor Mike Sonko, who leapt into action to de-escalate the situation.

Kibe was hosting Sonko for a live interview at a Ngong Road restaurant when a group of rowdy youths, suspected to be from Kibra, stormed the premises demanding the blogger be ejected. It seems word of the interview spread on social media, rekindling tensions from past run-ins between Kibe and Sonko online.
One mob member boldly stated their intent to harm Kibe over his controversial commentary. As tensions mounted, the politican-turned-peacemaker Sonko sprung into action. Drawing on his charismatic nature, he persuaded the mob to withdraw while assuring Kibe’s safety. Had he not intervened, things could have turned violent fast.
The incident interrupted proceedings, though Sonko and Kibe appeared to have buried past differences. Over drinks, they bantered and joked through the interview streamed on Twitter. When asked about his lifestyle now, Sonko admitted being jobless but choosing a low profile after demitting office last year.

He reflected on past clashes with Kibe, who he felt attacked Kenyan celebrities unprovoked. While such confrontations still stir emotions, Sonko’s prompt response calmed an explosive situation. His defending an outspoken critic showed character growth and desire for non-violence – traits sorely missed in today’s polarized climate.
Sonko’s intervention underscores the responsibility public figures have in mitigating conflict. Through open-minded dialogue and protection of all, even opponents, leaders can transform tensions into understanding. His peacemaker role in this case surely prevented harm and promoted reconciliation.
