Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has emphatically denied claims of discord between himself and President William Ruto.
While speaking during an interdenominational church service in Kesses on Sunday, May 26, the second in command stressed that there exists a harmonious working relationship between them, characterised by mutual respect and admiration.
He emphasised that President Ruto has entrusted him with significant responsibilities, some of which have been quite demanding, yet he has been given ample time and support to fulfil them.
“The president and I are doing quite well and we love one another. He has given me a lot of responsibilities that some even overwhelm me, but he has given me a conducive environment to deliver. Our government is united and is smoothly running,” he stated.
How did Gachagua defend his latest remarks?
Gachagua clarified that his recent statements were aimed at fostering unity among those who felt threatened, to rally them back to the United Democratic Alliance party, the ruling party.
Additionally, Gachagua lavished praise upon the head of state, highlighting him as a trustworthy leader, a patriot, a unifier, devoid of tribal biases, and dedicated to the welfare of his people.
“Our president is trustworthy, he is a patriot, brings people together and has no traces of tribalism. I have been working towards bringing people who were threatened and exposed to propaganda back to the UDA party and rallying them to support the president. I will not tire doing that,” he added.
