The young man identified as @adamofori on the TikTok app said he intentionally put his grandmother’s phone on silent.
After turning it off, he lied to his grandmother that he needed funds to buy new ringing tones, and she presented him with cash. In his words:
“I put my grandma’s phone on silent and told her that her phone’s ringing tone was finished. She should give me money to buy another one.”
