Mombasa governor, Abdulswammad Nasir declares readiness to brace political risks in the decision to Ban Muguka in Mombasa.
Speaking at an interview on Wednesday, the governor said the decision was based on an already existing law.
“I want to be clear, there are those who label this as a political risk, and yes, it is a political risk. But let me make it clear, I am prepared to confront that head-on,” he said.
The governor hinted at forthcoming decisions that he claims will send shockwaves throughout the nation.
“If you think what I am doing now is making waves, just wait until you see what’s coming next- it’s going to be a tsunami.”
The county boss has taken action by reaching out to the Ministries of Interior and Health, urging Muguka farmers to consider alternative crops.
“If you believe in its potency, enjoy it with your family, but lets avoid subjecting our children to it,” he emphasized.
Governor Nassir revealed his intentions to unveil bold policy measures aimed at restoring order and stability shortly.
He continued by hinting at forthcoming decisions that will be tough on influential figures, emphasizing his refusal to back down or be intimidated.
“While I wound divulge specifics, this is just the beginning of restoring order. I will be addressing sensitive issues that will affect big businesses,” he asserted.
In recent announcement, President William Ruto disclosed that he engaged in discussions with governor Nassir and fellow governors Gideon Mun’garo (Kilifi) and Andrew Mwadime (Taita Taveta) regarding on the Muguka ban.
The president revealed that he urged them to attend a forthcoming national gathering organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock to address the issues surrounding the Muguka ban.
During the interview, governor Nassir issued notices prohibiting sales in non designated areas including those near schools and religion institutions.
The governor is determined to eradicate Muguka sale in his county, citing its detrimental impact on customers and families.
