Ministry of Education announces revised half-term dates for term two of 2024 across pre-primary, primary, and secondary schools.
At first, the learners were to break for the second term half-term break from June 20 to June 23, 2024, which has now been shifted to June 26, to June 28.
“In light of the adjustments to the opening dates, it has been decided that half-term dates from term two to be revised,” the curriculum stated.
These changes may necessitate adjustments to planned activities and schedules.
Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu announced on May 9 that the possibility of extending the second term to make up for the lost time was being considered, although the duration of the extension remains unspecified.
The extension aims to ensure schools have ample time to cover the syllabus, especially for the students preparing for the national exams slated for November.
“For Form Four candidates, we are exploring extending the term by a few days to make up for the lost time. Instead of the usual three-week break in August, we might shorten it,” said the CS.
Machogu emphasized that the national exam dates would remain unaffected, stating, “The exam calendar remains unchanged. KCSE and KEPSA will proceed as scheduled in November.”
