Ultimately, the motion to remove Ndemo from office was defeated, with 43 MCA’s voting against it, while 23 supported his ouster.
Minority Chief Whip Denis Ombachi led the defense for the Alfred Ndemo within the Kisii County Assembly, contending that the impeachment motion lacked substance.
Ombachi emphasized the academic achievements of Ndemo, including his studies up to the PhD level, portraying the motion as a threat to his service to the community.
He highlighted Ndemo’s support for a political ally, Arati, and his expectations of employment in return.
The impeachment attempt against Alfred Ndemo faltered as the initiator of the motion struggled to garner sufficient backing from fellow ward representatives.
The MCA had brought forth an impeachment motion against Ndemo, citing allegations of gross misconduct. Among the accusations leveled against him was the purposed misuse of authority, allegedly requesting an enforcement officer to accompany him home.
Furthermore, they criticized Ndemo for allegedly misrepresenting the governor’s stance on the establishment of the County Industrial Park.
