Nairobi County Unveils Mama Margaret Uhuru Hospital in Korogocho
A significant boost to Nairobi’s healthcare landscape arrived today with the official opening of the Mama Margaret Uhuru Hospital (MMUH) in Korogocho. Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja presided over the ceremony, highlighting the 548-bed facility’s role in expanding healthcare access for both Korogocho residents and the wider city.
The hospital’s transfer from national to county government management positions it as one of the largest healthcare institutions under Nairobi City County’s control. Governor Sakaja sought to alleviate any concerns regarding the transition, assuring the community that high-quality care would remain a priority.
Nairobi County’s commitment to improved healthcare services was further underscored by County Health Chief Officer Geoffrey Mosiria’s confirmation that the Mama Margaret Uhuru Hospital is fully equipped with essential medical equipment. This aligns with the vision laid out by Nairobi County’s Health CEC, Susan Silantoi, who has emphasized the importance of increased healthcare accessibility across the city.
The opening of the Mama Margaret Uhuru Hospital marks a positive step forward in strengthening Nairobi’s healthcare infrastructure and ensuring better health outcomes for its residents.
