Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Sunday spoke lightheartedly while requesting Kenyans to include him in their prayers for continued honesty and truthfulness during devotional petitions.
Speaking at the consecration of ACK Nakuru Diocese Bishop Anthony Mambo in Nakuru, DP Gachagua reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining his reputation as an “honest man” and pledged to always speak the truth to the Kenyan electorate.
He also urged Kenyans to support President William Ruto’s efforts to revive the country’s struggling economy under his economic transformation agenda.

“Pray for our president to receive wisdom and courage to lead our country, especially in our economic transformation. Keep praying for our country,” he remarked.
“And also remember me because you know I am a truthful and honest man. Pray for me to continue being truthful and honest.”
This statement comes amid political criticism directed at Gachagua, who has accused President Ruto’s associates of causing a rift between him and the president.
During a public rally in Kirinyaga County, Gachagua passionately criticized allies of the president, describing their behavior as patronizing. He reiterated that his only directives come from President Ruto and the Kenyan people.
“Even some of his friends, his PAs want to order me around on how to do my work. Is it possible? Even bloggers of the president want to tell me what to do… you know me, I have only two bosses, President Ruto and the people of Kenya,” Gachagua asserted.
According to Gachagua, these allies are responsible for fostering perceived discord and animosity between him and the president, pointing out the existence of a WhatsApp group named ‘Project 22’ aimed at undermining him.
“The issue we are witnessing now is that some people who are close to the president also want to be my bosses. Is this possible?” Gachagua questioned.
He has consistently emphasized his stance on fostering unity within the Mt Kenya region, refusing to waver in his convictions despite speculation of division within the Kenya Kwanza government.
Gachagua dismissed allegations of promoting tribal politics, arguing that unity among Mt Kenya communities ensures greater national resources allocation.
“We elected Ruto fully aware that he is not Kikuyu. We don’t want accusations of tribalism. We are patriots because we elected Ruto,” he concluded.
