Julius Irungu, the father of convicted murderer Jowie Irungu, has died while receiving treatment at the Rift Valley Provincial General Hospital Annex.
His wife, Anne Thama, confirmed his death, stating that he had been battling cancer for an extended period.
“He has been in and out of the hospital due to the illness,” Thama said. She noted that despite the ongoing struggle with the disease, her husband’s health had been deteriorating, leading to his demise on Saturday.
The news of Julius Irungu’s death has come as a significant blow to his family, who have already been under the public eye due to their connection with Jowie Irungu’s high-profile murder case.
Jowie Irungu was convicted of the murder of Monica Kimani, a 28-year-old woman whose death shocked the nation. Throughout the court proceedings, Julius Irungu and his wife and daughter remained a constant presence, supporting Jowie during his legal battle.
