Man Stabs Wife To Death In Dispute Over Ksh.30 Church Offering, Mob Kills Him
A tragic incident in Nyalula village, Siaya County, led to the deaths of two individuals following a dispute over a Ksh.30 church offering. According to Siaya County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo, the violent altercation began when 60-year-old Bernard Odweso allegedly stabbed his 55-year-old wife, Pamela Anyango, to death.
The incident reportedly started on Sunday afternoon when Odweso and Anyango, along with their 22-year-old daughter Vida Odweso, had a disagreement over the Ksh.30 intended for a church offering. Odweso was suspected of taking the money, which led to a heated argument. The situation escalated, and Odweso attacked his wife with a knife, stabbing her multiple times and killing her on the spot. Their daughter managed to escape the scene.
Upon hearing the commotion, the couple’s 24-year-old son, Dickens Odweso, arrived at the scene to find his father armed with an iron rod and a knife. In the ensuing struggle, Bernard Odweso attacked his son, stabbing him in the neck and leg.
The violent scene drew the attention of neighbors and members of the public, who quickly gathered and apprehended Bernard Odweso. Enraged by the brutal attack on his wife and son, the mob subjected Odweso to mob justice, inflicting multiple head injuries. He was subsequently rushed to Siaya County Referral Hospital in critical condition but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Police Commander Kimaiyo confirmed that the scenes of the incidents have been processed. The body of Pamela Anyango has been moved to Siaya County Referral Hospital mortuary, where it will be preserved pending an autopsy. This tragic sequence of events highlights the severe consequences of domestic disputes and mob justice, leaving a community in shock and mourning the loss of two lives.
