Nominated Member of County Assembly (MCA) Urbanus Kyalo Wambua, who was reported missing since Saturday, has been found.
Wambua was found seeking treatment at a hospital in Makindu, where he recounted his ordeal to the media.
According to him, he was kidnapped by men who identified themselves as detectives from Embu.
“They said they were hunting down individuals believed to be inciting anti-government protests,” Wambua stated. According to him, he was released after pleading with his captors to let him go.
The Wiper Party leader, Kalonzo Musyoka condemned the abduction as a gross violation of human rights, equating it to arbitrary arrests and enforced disappearances prohibited under Article 29 of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010.
“The Wiper Democratic Movement (WDM) Party unequivocally condemns the abduction of Hon. Wambua as a gross violation of human rights. We demand that Hon. Wambua be released immediately and returned to his family in Makindu, Makueni County. We also demand that the government immediately end these illegal actions and release all others who have been arbitrarily arrested,” the statement read.
