The Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church has rescinded the suspension of four religious leaders who were previously banned from ministering.
The reversal was announced in a letter dated July 10, 2024, signed by Pastor Eliab Ombuoro, the KCF Executive Secretary, directing recipients to disregard the earlier suspension directive.
The original suspension, issued on July 4, 2024, affected Pastor Elizabeth Mokoro, Kenneth Maina, Evangelist Shaban Ndege, Evangelist Millicent Odhiambo, and Evangelist Lantena.
In the initial notice, church members were instructed not to allow the five suspended individuals to minister within their branches, a directive that aligned with the East Kenya Union Conference (EKUC) action number 24EXCOM-055.
Pastor Ombuoro’s latest letter states, “In reference to our letter dated 4th July 2024 on the above subject matter quoted (ACTION 24EXCOM-055), we wish to state that the letter is hereby withdrawn until advised otherwise. For those who might have read the letter, we request that you disregard it.”
The withdrawal comes after a massive online uproar regarding the suspensions. Despite this, the exact reasons for the initial suspension remain undisclosed. Attempts to reach Pastor Ombuoro for further clarification were unsuccessful as he did not respond to our calls.
