In a significant crackdown on human trafficking, operatives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have successfully apprehended two suspects and rescued 56 victims in a raid conducted in Embakasi, Nairobi County.
The operation, led by detectives from the Transnational Organized Crime Unit (TOCU) at the DCI headquarters, culminated in the arrest of Dakie Jilo, aged 30, and Salat Galgalo, aged 20, at a residential building in Tassia, Embakasi sub-county.
The suspects were nabbed following a meticulous operation aimed at combating human trafficking and protecting vulnerable individuals from exploitation.
According to the DCI statement released on Friday, July 12, 2024, the raid resulted in the rescue of nine minors and 47 adult victims who were found in distressing conditions within the premises.
The victims, visibly relieved to be freed from captivity, were immediately taken into protective custody at the Embakasi police station.
The suspects, meanwhile, were swiftly escorted to the Muthaiga police station for processing as authorities prepare to arraign them in court.
