In a fiery response to President William Ruto’s sweeping dismissal of his entire Cabinet, former Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana has hailed the younger generation, likening them to “stinging bees” in their quest for change.
Speaking passionately about the impact of Gen Z on Kenya’s future, Kibwana drew parallels to the legacy of freedom fighter Dedan Kimathi, calling today’s youth “worthy heirs” poised to shape a new era for the country.
“Gen Zees, you sting like Bees,” Kibwana declared in a statement following Ruto’s abrupt decision to dissolve the cabinet, excluding only Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and the Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs.
“Through you, we will witness a new Kenya, where power resides with the people and the Constitution stands sovereign under God.”
Kibwana’s remarks come amid ongoing protests over the Finance Bill of 2024, which saw widespread criticism and demonstrations over what many termed as punitive measures.
President Ruto’s subsequent rejection of the bill and implementation of austerity measures further fueled public discontent, leading to the dramatic dissolution of his cabinet last Thursday.
“We are on the brink of the third economic liberation and embracing Ubuntu,” Kibwana continued, emphasizing a renewed hope for economic reform and justice.
His words resonate with a populace weary of corruption and keen on accountability in public governance.
President Ruto, in his announcement, assured the public that ministries’ affairs would be overseen by Principal Secretaries temporarily, pending the appointment of a new cabinet through extensive consultations across various sectors.
The developments mark a pivotal moment in Kenya’s political landscape, as citizens, particularly the younger generation, assert their role in shaping a more transparent and accountable government.
