President William Ruto has urged citizens to pray for him as he undertakes the task of finding competent Cabinet Secretaries.
Speaking at a church service in Nyandarua County on Sunday, Ruto emphasized his dedication to assembling a team characterized by competence and integrity to steer his administration.
During the service at A.I.P.C.A Ndogino, the President called upon the church and the public to pray for his success in selecting the right individuals.
“Pray for me that I get employees who will help me actualize the promises I made to you,” Ruto told the congregation. He added, “You want me to build a new government that will unite the entire nation?”
Ruto’s appeal for prayers comes days after he dismissed the Attorney General and 21 Cabinet Secretaries on July 11, retaining only Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.
The President cited the need for a comprehensive appraisal of his cabinet’s performance and the necessity to listen to the Kenyan people as reasons for the drastic move.
However, the decision to spare Mudavadi has drawn criticism from Kenyans online, who argue that the office of Prime Cabinet Secretary is unconstitutional.
As Ruto faces mounting pressure to form a new team, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has advised against appointing individuals with pride, urging instead for CSs who prioritize the nation’s interests.
