The mother-in-law of a suspected serial killer has disclosed that her daughter, the first alleged victim, went silent on social media in 2022.
The DCI disclosed on Monday that the suspect allegedly confessed to first killing his wife before embarking on a killing spree that claimed the lives of 41 other women.
“The suspect alleged that the first victim was his wife, whom he strangled to death before dismembering and disposing of the body at the Kware site,” said DCI Chief Amin.
According to a certain publication, the suspect’s mother-in-law recounted how her daughter, who was married to the suspect, abruptly stopped communicating via WhatsApp in 2022.
“Wakati ilifika 2022, account yake ikanyamaza,” she said. She has not heard from her daughter since then and only learned of her death following the suspect’s confession. “Ndio nimesikia leo ripoti ati aliuwawa,” she added.
During a press briefing at DCI headquarters, Amin detailed how the suspect led officers to his single room in Kware, located 100 meters from a quarry, where he described his actions to the victims.
The suspect’s arrest followed a meticulous forensic analysis of a mobile phone belonging to one of the victims, revealing mobile money transactions on the day she went missing.
The DCI recovered numerous items from the suspect’s possession, including 24 SIM cards, eight smartphones, two feature phones, a laptop, and a hard drive. Other items found included two flash drives, a memory card, a machete believed to have been used to dismember the victims, and 12 nylon sacks similar to those used to stuff the bodies.
