Social media influencer Francis Gaitho has been charged with publishing false information, claiming the DCI arrested the wrong person as the prime suspect in the Kware killings.
Francis Nganga Gaitho was accused of intentionally publishing false information on July 15, 2024, around 2:00 PM, using his X social media account.
The prosecution alleged that Gaitho intended for the data to be considered or acted upon as authentic.
Gaitho faced a second charge for publishing false information about an innocent Kenyan regarding the Kware killings.
The prosecution argued that he should have known his posts could cause apprehension, violence, or damage to the person’s property.
Gaitho denied the charges before Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Robinson Ondieki and requested lenient bond terms, stating he was not a flight risk as he was arrested at home. The DPP asked the court to have Gaitho deposit his passport in court.
