Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has called on the youth to cease nationwide anti-government protests, assuring them that their concerns have been acknowledged and are being addressed.
Speaking in Mwea, Kirinyaga County, on Saturday, Gachagua emphasized that criminals are exploiting the protests to loot and destroy property.
“We respect the Gen Zs and what you are saying, we are listening…you have spoken and we have heard you. Please Gen Zs, my children, my sons and daughters, we have heard you, you have spoken clearly; what you have said needs no full stop or comma. But when you continue, criminals are hijacking the protests,” Gachagua stated.
He reiterated that President William Ruto and the entire government are committed to addressing the demands of the younger generation, urging them to await action from the current regime.
“The President has heard, the government and everybody else has heard; now let’s wait for action.”
The Deputy President made these remarks at the Pentecostal Evangelistic Fellowship of Africa (PEFA) Church at the Mwea Cathedral during the Consecration and Installation of Regional Bishop Samuel Karimi.
Gachagua praised the Gen Zs for their good intentions but warned that their protests are being hijacked by individuals with criminal intentions to cause mayhem.
