The use of orchestrated tactics at rallies, such as hiring a hypeman and mobilizing paid crowds, raises questions about the authenticity of political support for President William Ruto.

Critics argue that these methods are a response to the lack of genuine grassroots enthusiasm, stemming from unmet expectations and unfulfilled promises.

In their view, the theatrics of a lively rally are a substitute for substantive achievements that resonate with the public.

This approach can be seen as a way to mask the disconnect between the administration’s narrative and the realities faced by ordinary citizens.

These actions also underscore a deeper issue in contemporary politics: the emphasis on spectacle over substance.

By creating the illusion of widespread support, politicians can influence public perception and control the narrative in the media.

This focus on image management can divert attention from critical discussions about policy and governance.

For the electorate, it becomes increasingly challenging to distinguish between genuine support and manufactured enthusiasm, complicating their ability to make informed decisions.

Moreover, the reliance on paid participants at rallies can have broader implications for democracy.

It raises concerns about the integrity of political engagement and the true level of support for a leader.

In a healthy democracy, leaders rely on authentic connections with their constituents, built on trust and accountability.

When these connections are replaced with orchestrated displays, it undermines the democratic process and erodes public trust in political institutions.

Ultimately, the effectiveness of these tactics is limited.

While they may create a temporary sense of momentum, they cannot replace the long-term need for genuine public support and effective governance.

For President Ruto, as for any leader, the challenge lies in addressing the root causes of public dissatisfaction and delivering tangible results that improve the lives of citizens.

Only through real achievements and transparency can a leader build lasting support and a legacy of trust.
