President William Ruto has nominated Dorcas Agik Oduor as Kenya’s Attorney-General, a historic appointment that would make her the first female to hold the position if confirmed by the National Assembly.
Dorcas Agik Oduor, a highly respected figure in the legal community, brings over 30 years of experience to the role.
Currently serving as the Secretary of Public Prosecutions within the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, Oduor has a distinguished career marked by significant contributions in litigation, legal advisory, and public prosecution.
Admitted to the bar in 1992, Oduor holds a Bachelor of Laws, a postgraduate Diploma from the Kenya School of Law, and a Master of Arts in International Conflict.
Her career includes notable positions such as Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions and Head of Economic, International, and Emerging Crimes.
Oduor’s extensive experience also includes serving on several influential commissions, such as the Akiwumi Commission on Land Clashes and the Bosire Commission on the Goldenberg Affair.
She has been recognized with awards including Senior Counsel and Elder of the Burning Spear (EBS).
If confirmed, Oduor will take over from Rebecca Miano, who has been reassigned to the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife.
