A joint operation by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and general duty officers from Endebess Sub-county has successfully rescued a five-year-old child who was allegedly kidnapped and taken to Uganda.

The child, abducted on July 23, 2024, was reportedly transported to Kapnandi, Uganda.

There, the suspect, identified as 27-year-old Hosea Kiptoo Satia from Kolongei in Matumbei, left the child in the care of an elderly woman named Celestine Koronyeny.

Satia had reportedly demanded Ksh 100,000 for the child’s release.

Following a meticulous investigation, detectives traced Satia to his hideout and were led to Uganda, where the child was recovered and a second suspect was arrested.

The child has been safely returned to their parents, thanks to the collaborative efforts of the police and a children’s officer.

The suspects have been arraigned and released on Ksh 100,000 cash bail each.

The investigation into the case continues as authorities seek to address the full scope of the alleged kidnapping.
