Two high school students were arrested today while traveling from Busia to Nairobi with a substantial quantity of cannabis.
The suspects, a 17-year-old Form 4 student and a 16-year-old Form 3 student, were apprehended on a Guardian Angel bus at the Suo roadblock.
The arrest was made possible by a credible tip-off that led a vigilant multi-agency team to conduct a thorough search of the bus.
During the search, officers discovered five bales of cannabis hidden within the students’ bags.
The total weight of the seized drugs was 23 kilograms, with an estimated street value of KSh690,000.
Following their arrest, the students were taken to Busia Police Station for processing.
Authorities are currently preparing the case for court, where the students will face charges related to drug trafficking.
The incident highlights ongoing concerns about drug trafficking and the involvement of minors in such illegal activities.
