Kenyan actress Winnie Bwire, known to many as Dida, has made a heartfelt plea for financial assistance as she battles metastatic breast cancer.
In a video shared by news anchor Lulu Hassan, Bwire revealed her urgent need to raise Ksh5 million to cover the costs of her treatment abroad, including travel, accommodation, and food expenses.
Bwire, who has been fighting the illness for three years, expressed her frustration with the ever-increasing costs of healthcare.
“I’m so frustrated at how expensive healthcare is. Every time I make 10 steps forward, I feel like I’m being dragged back,” she said.
Despite the overwhelming financial burden, Bwire remains resolute in her fight against the disease.
The actress acknowledged the emotional toll the situation has taken on her, and she has reached out to the public for help.
“I’m not giving up. I’m just done carrying this alone,” Bwire stated.
She has provided a Paybill number for donations and emphasized that no contribution is too small, encouraging the online community to support her in this difficult time.
This is not the first instance Bwire has sought public assistance. In December 2023, she appealed for donations to raise Ksh7 million for previous treatment abroad.
The new campaign aims to address the ongoing financial challenges and secure the necessary funds for her continued care.
