Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor John Barorot has officially resigned from his position, marking the end of his tenure in the county government.
Barorot made the announcement during a meeting with senior county staff at the Eka Hotel in Eldoret, in the presence of Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii.
The formal announcement of his resignation is expected to be made shortly at the Uasin Gishu County headquarters.
His departure comes just days after he dismissed rumors of his resignation, which had surfaced following his absence from a significant event in Eldoret.
Last Thursday, Barorot was notably absent when President William Ruto conferred City status to Eldoret, fueling speculation about his whereabouts and the state of his relationship with Governor Bii.
In a recent interview, Barorot had brushed off the resignation claims as mere rumors but did not offer an explanation for his absence from the event.
The speculation surrounding his working relationship with Governor Bii has been persistent, with some sources hinting at underlying tensions.
Just two weeks ago, during a prayer meeting at the county headquarters, Governor Bii assured attendees that Barorot was simply on leave.
“Sorry, I forgot to tell you that our Deputy Governor, Engineer Barorot, is not with us here because he is on leave, but we are together in all this,” Governor Bii stated at the time.
Barorot’s resignation is likely to trigger further discussions about the dynamics within the Uasin Gishu County leadership and the potential impact on the county’s governance.
