In a major breakthrough, police officers from Baraka Police Station in Rongai Sub-County, Nakuru County, have apprehended 19-year-old Ezekiel Kwame Mwangi, a suspected serial killer linked to a series of brutal murders in the area.
Mwangi, who has been on the police radar for months, is believed to be the mastermind behind several heinous crimes that have sent shockwaves through the community.
The suspect’s alleged crime spree began on July 14, 2024, when he reportedly defiled and murdered five-year-old Alice Ayuma Blessing, later dumping her lifeless body in a maize plantation in the Mwangaza area.
The brutality escalated on August 7, 2024, in Kalyet, where Mwangi is suspected of killing 34-year-old Mueni Mwalimu by striking her on the head with a blunt object and stabbing her in the stomach.
The violence continued the next day, August 8, 2024, when Mwangi allegedly raped and murdered 28-year-old Moraa Mugambi at Mustard Seed in Kiamunyi, along the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway, by hitting her on the head with a rungu.
Mwangi was arrested following an intensive manhunt and is currently being held at Menengai Police Station.
He is undergoing processing and will soon be arraigned in court to face multiple charges, including murder, rape, and defilement.
The arrest has brought some relief to the residents of Nakuru County, who have been living in fear due to the series of brutal attacks.
Police have assured the public that they are committed to ensuring justice is served and are continuing their investigations to determine if Mwangi may be linked to other unsolved cases in the region.
