President William Ruto has revealed his intention to return to his roots in evangelism after completing his term as Kenya’s Head of State.
Speaking during a church service at ACK Bungoma on Sunday, September 1, 2024, President Ruto expressed his deep connection to his original calling of spreading the word of God, a passion he intends to pursue once he leaves office.
Addressing the congregation, Ruto explained that his upbringing was steeped in learning and teaching the Holy Bible, which has profoundly influenced his life and leadership style.
He defended his well-known habit of addressing crowds from elevated positions, including the rooftops of vehicles, attributing it to his evangelical orientation.
“I am an evangelist, and many people sometimes wonder why I stand in raised places, sometimes on top of the car. It is because when your orientation is an evangelist, you always behave like an evangelist even when you are doing other things. And by the way, I have given a commitment that when I finish my tour of duty as president, I will go back to being an evangelist because that is my original calling,” President Ruto stated.
During the service, the President also called on the clergy and faithful to continue praying for Kenya, as his government strives to address the nation’s economic challenges and promote good governance.
He expressed gratitude for the blessings he believes God has bestowed upon the country, particularly highlighting the favorable weather conditions over the past two years that have led to abundant harvests.
Ruto noted that the country has made significant strides in shifting its national dialogue from divisive ethnic issues to a unified focus on development.
He credited divine intervention for the successful outcome of his recent development tour in the Nyanza region, where former political adversaries have come together in a spirit of cooperation and unity.
“I have just come from a trip in Nyanza, and it is amazing what God can do. It is almost a miracle that the people who were on extreme sides a few months ago, today we are speaking as if we are very long-time brothers and sisters and friends,” Ruto remarked.
