In a tragic event, a bus traveling from Moyale to Nairobi was ambushed by armed assailants on a stretch of road between Bori Junction and Dadach Lakole.
The bus, operated by Salama Bus, was attacked by gunmen believed to be members of the Shifta group, a known militant faction in the region.
As the bus was sprayed with bullets, the passengers were thrown into a panic. Unfortunately, one person lost their life in the attack, while several others sustained serious injuries.
Four of the injured were immediately rushed to the nearest hospital, where they are receiving treatment.
The authorities are currently investigating the incident, and efforts are underway to track down the perpetrators.
The region around Moyale has experienced periodic violence, often linked to ethnic conflicts, banditry, and insurgency activities by militant groups like the Shifta.
Such incidents not only cause loss of life and injury but also instill fear among local communities and travelers, further destabilizing the region.
The Kenyan government has vowed to increase security measures along these vulnerable routes to prevent future attacks and protect civilians.
