Winnie Ndubi Bwire, popularly known for her role in the TV series Sultana, has passed away.
The actress lost her battle with cancer on Thursday, September 5, 2024, while undergoing treatment in Turkey.
Her family confirmed the tragic news in a statement.
“It is with a heavy heart and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce Winfred Bwire Ndubi lost her battle to cancer on 5th September 2024 while undergoing treatment in Turkey,” the family said.
They expressed their gratitude for the overwhelming support and prayers during her difficult journey and indicated that further details would be shared later.
Bwire’s death comes just weeks after she made a heartfelt appeal for financial assistance to continue her treatment.
The actress had been seeking Ksh 5 million to cover her medical expenses, including accommodation and meals in Turkey.
In her last social media post on August 14, Bwire opened up about the side effects of her medication, which led her doctors to halt the treatment.
“It has over 41 side effects, and you never know which one will hit,” she shared. Despite securing visas for her treatment abroad, financial difficulties had delayed her journey.
Bwire’s plea resonated with many, and she remained hopeful even in her final message.
“If you can support me, I have nothing to give in return, but you will save my life. I wanted this video to be filled with hope,” she said.
