Several parts of Kenya experienced a major power outage on Friday morning, leaving the majority of the country without electricity.
According to a statement by the Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC), the blackout affected almost all regions except for the North Rift and parts of the Western regions.
Kenya Power did not immediately provide the cause of the outage but reassured the public that efforts are underway to restore power as soon as possible.
“We apologise for the inconvenience and kindly ask for your patience as our engineers work swiftly to restore the service,” read part of the company’s statement.
This latest disruption comes barely a week after another significant blackout affected numerous parts of the country.
The repeated outages have raised concerns among Kenyans, particularly about the reliability of the national grid, though KPLC has not yet addressed the issue publicly.
Businesses, hospitals, and households are among those significantly impacted by the blackout, with many residents voicing frustrations over the frequent power interruptions. .
