On Saturday, Government Pathologist Johansen Oduor provided an update regarding the tragic fire incident at Hillside Endarasha, announcing that the post-mortem examinations on the victims’ bodies would begin on Tuesday, September 10.

Oduor confirmed that the recovery of the bodies from the fire scene had been completed, and that efforts would now focus on the autopsies.

Oduor expressed the difficulty of identifying the victims due to the severe burns, making it nearly impossible to recognize the pupils who lost their lives.

He explained, “We have now finished retrieving the bodies from the site of the fire. In total, 19 bodies were recovered and placed in body bags.

These will be transferred to Naromoru Hospital for the postmortem process. However, due to the extent of the burns, it is extremely challenging to identify each individual at this stage.”
