Recently, tensions escalated at Nyayo Highrise Ward in Nairobi as Ministry of Housing officials were chased by angry residents protesting long-standing water shortages.
Residents of the estate have been struggling with intermittent and unreliable water supply for years, with many households receiving water only once or twice a week.
This situation has forced them to rely on expensive water vendors, further compounding their frustrations.

The dry taps have caused public outcry multiple times, leading residents to stage protests, including blocking the busy Mbagathi Way to draw attention to their plight.
In some instances, the residents have taken matters into their own hands, such as when they recently turned their frustration towards the visiting government officials, demanding immediate action on the matter.
