Residents of Kabete on Sunday handed over a brand new car to Mwimuto Police Station for officers to use as a patrol car to maintain security in the area.

According to a certain publication, the vehicle, a Toyota Probox, was bought due to the joint effort of community members who wanted to improve security in their village.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Kabete Police Commander Antony Mbogo stated that the car will come in handy in providing a quick response to insecurity cases in the area.

While handing it over, the residents made it clear that the vehicle would be used only for security patrols in the area and surrounding environs.

Additionally, the residents bought a parcel of land which they awarded police officers from the station with a title deed where the Mwimuto Police Station has been built.

The partnership signifies the cooperation between the police officers and the residents of the area keen to improve the security situation in Kabete.

“We resolved to unite as a community and support the government because security affects all of us,” one member of the community commented.

Kabete, which is in Kiambu County, has only one vehicle used to serve the whole sub-county.

According to the area police commander, the newly acquired vehicle will go a long way to boost security in the area.

“This vehicle which has been handed to us is for security purposes of this area. In this sub-county, we have only one vehicle which is used for patrol in Uthiru, Gitaru, Muguga, and Karura,” Kabete police commander Antony Mbogo stated.

“With this vehicle stationed here at Mwimuto we shall use it for patrols only,” the police boss emphasized.
