Reports have surfaced indicating that some vendors are using sulphuric acid to cook groundnuts in an attempt to avoid the rising costs of charcoal.

This alarming practice, which poses a serious health risk to consumers, is said to be a result of the increasing prices of traditional fuel sources, making it more expensive to roast groundnuts using charcoal.

The use of sulphuric acid, a highly corrosive and toxic substance, has shocked many, as it could lead to severe health complications if ingested.

Consumers are also being advised to buy groundnuts from trusted vendors or to roast them at home to avoid the risk of consuming contaminated products.
