A section of the Umoja Elimu Centre in Kisii town has reportedly caught fire.

This building is a significant landmark in Kisii, housing several institutions, including the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) and various businesses.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and local authorities have responded quickly to control the situation.

There have been concerns about possible structural damage, especially considering that the building is one of the tallest in Kisii, standing 10 stories high.

This incident has caused disruptions to daily activities around the building, with business owners and students affected.

Firefighters are working hard to prevent the blaze from spreading to neighboring structures, while police have cordoned off the area for safety.

Fortunately, no casualties have been reported so far, but the full extent of the damage is yet to be assessed. As the situation develops, updates on the fire’s cause and the recovery efforts are expected from local authorities.
