Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has expressed his dissatisfaction with the Judiciary after the courts declined to halt his impeachment process.
Gachagua, who faces allegations of misconduct, had submitted multiple petitions seeking to block Parliament from advancing the motion to impeach him.
However, the High Court ruled that the Senate should be allowed to hear the case, thus clearing the way for his defense against the allegations.
In his petition, Gachagua argues that the impeachment process is politically motivated and lacks proper public participation.
His legal team, led by Senior Counsel Paul Muite, has raised concerns about constitutional violations in the process.
Despite these efforts, the courts have refused to grant conservatory orders that would have paused the proceedings.
The matter has now been referred to Chief Justice Martha Koome, who is expected to appoint a three-judge bench to handle the legal aspects of the impeachment case.
This ruling has set the stage for a critical showdown as Gachagua seeks to defend his position in Parliament.
