Drama as Murder Suspect Overpowers Police Officers & Escapes From Kitale Law Court. Watch Out

In a dramatic turn of events, a murder suspect managed to escape from Kitale Law Courts after overpowering a police officer escorting him to the restroom.

The suspect, identified as Reuben Karakacha, had been brought to court for a hearing related to his murder case on Monday.

However, he seized an opportunity to escape, overpowering the guard outside the restroom and fleeing into the nearby Chalala slums.

Police reports indicate that Karakacha used his chance skillfully, surprising the guard, and making his way out of the courtroom vicinity.

His escape has since led to a full-scale manhunt, with authorities on high alert and urging the public to remain vigilant.

Police have stated that Karakacha is considered dangerous and that his escape poses a significant threat to the public.

This incident has raised serious questions about the safety and security measures in place for managing suspects in court premises.

Concerns have intensified, especially since security lapses have previously led to serious incidents in Kenyan courts.

Notably, on June 13, an incident at Makadara Law Courts shocked the nation when Magistrate Monica Kivuti was fatally shot by a police officer during a court session, a tragedy that brought attention to the safety of judicial officers within court premises.

The situation is further complicated by another high-profile escape involving Collins Jumaisi, a self-confessed serial killer linked to the gruesome Kware murders, who admitted to killing 42 women.

Jumaisi managed to escape from the Gigiri Police Station on August 20 under unclear circumstances, raising concerns about police oversight.

According to reports, Jumaisi and 12 other detainees, including Eritrean nationals, allegedly cut through a wire mesh and scaled a perimeter wall to make their getaway.

Following Jumaisi’s escape, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has appealed to the public for help in locating the serial killer.

They have even offered a cash reward for any credible information leading to his recapture. Authorities are encouraging residents to report any suspicious individuals to their nearest police station.

In light of these alarming events, the Judiciary has implemented additional security measures to protect judges and magistrates across the country.

These steps aim to bolster the safety of judicial officials while they carry out their duties, addressing concerns about potential dangers within court environments.

The recent escapes underscore an urgent need to strengthen court security and prevent such incidents from endangering both public safety and the judiciary.
