Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua recently issued a strong warning to President William Ruto, stressing that the people of the Mt. Kenya region will not forget how he was treated, nor the attempts to oust him through impeachment.
Speaking on Sunday, October 27, during a church service at Saint James ACK Cathedral in Kiambu County, Gachagua revealed that he would eventually disclose everything that happened behind the scenes, though he would stay quiet for now.
He emphasized that while forgiveness may be possible, the memory of past actions will endure, recalling past hardships faced by Kenyans, including during the colonial era and under President Moi’s rule.
During his address, Gachagua also spoke on the nation’s pressing issues, urging Kenyans to pray for President Ruto, who he believes is facing significant challenges.
He highlighted growing concerns about the economy, heavy taxation, and failing health services, which have left many Kenyans feeling helpless.
According to Gachagua, the president has an enormous responsibility, and he called on God to grant Ruto wisdom to help relieve the struggles faced by ordinary citizens in their daily lives.
Meanwhile, Gachagua’s political future remains uncertain as he battles a high court case to retain his position.
Recently, Ruto seemed to allude to their rift, strongly condemning what he called “divisive politics” and reaffirming his commitment to a united government.
Ruto questioned the criticism he faced for appointing officials from different backgrounds, noting, “We’re here to unify, not to divide.”
His remarks suggest that ethnic divisions have no place in his administration, which he aims to keep inclusive for all Kenyans.
