Former Limuru Member of Parliament and close ally of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Peter Mwathi, has broken his silence following his alleged abduction during a chaotic incident in Limuru.
Mwathi recounted the ordeal while addressing the media alongside Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
During the press briefing, Mwathi claimed he was abducted by individuals he believed to be officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
He explained that the abduction occurred after he tried to escape the chaotic scenes at a public event.
According to him, his attempt to flee the unrest led him into the hands of the individuals he identified as his abductors.
“We managed to escape the chaos at the burial and found ourselves on a road. My assistant requested a taxi to take us away from Naivasha. As we drove towards the flyover, two Subarus intercepted us.
A black one blocked us from the front, while a green one stopped behind. Two men emerged from the vehicles and confronted us,” Mwathi recalled.
The DCI has denied any involvement in Mwathi’s alleged abduction, but the former legislator provided a detailed description of his abductors.
He alleged they had tracked him to the point of interception. “These individuals were hooded, including the driver, and wore masks and balaclavas.
They sternly instructed me not to look at them and pointed shotguns at me to intimidate me,” he stated.
Mwathi also recounted the events leading up to the abduction, describing a harrowing escape from youth who disrupted the burial.
According to him, the youth, armed with machetes, pangas, and clubs, pursued him with the apparent intention of harming him.
“They came after us, and I am convinced they were determined to kill me. For the first time in my life, I ran for two kilometers, desperately trying to evade them,” Mwathi said.
After hours of alleged torture and questioning by his captors, Mwathi said he was eventually abandoned along the Southern Bypass in Nairobi.
Exhausted but alive, he managed to make his way home. “It was a terrifying experience, and I thank God I survived.
This ordeal has left me shaken, but I will not be silenced,” he remarked.
Mwathi’s revelations have raised serious questions about the incident, with calls for a thorough investigation to establish the truth behind the alleged abduction and the chaos in Limuru.
The event has also sparked political debate, with critics demanding accountability from the authorities involved.
