On Wednesday, January 8, three people were injured after a school bus collided with a truck in the Soweto area along the busy Nairobi-Nakuru Highway. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported from the accident.
St John Ambulance confirmed the incident, stating that a child was among the injured victims.
The first aid and health charity responded promptly, with their emergency team from Kinungi arriving at the scene to provide immediate assistance.
They administered first aid to the injured individuals and ensured those with severe injuries were transported to Naivasha Sub-County Referral Hospital for advanced medical care.
Photos from the accident site showed significant damage to both vehicles, with the front bumper areas of the bus and the truck visibly crushed due to the impact.
The exact cause of the accident had not been determined at the time of reporting. However, St John Ambulance has urged motorists using the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway to exercise extra caution to avoid similar incidents.
The organization also highlighted its efforts in enhancing road safety in the area by operating a Highway Community First Aid Post nearby.
This facility offers free emergency medical care to accident victims along the highway, ensuring swift response in case of emergencies.
