As of January 14, 2025, there are no reports or credible sources indicating that Geoffrey Mosiria, the Nairobi County Environment Chief Officer, or the Nairobi Green Army have engaged in vandalizing or removing signboards in Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD).
In fact, both Mr. Mosiria and the Green Army are known for their dedication to maintaining cleanliness and order in the city.
Mr. Mosiria has been actively involved in initiatives to improve Nairobi’s environment.
For instance, during World Clean-up Day on September 20, 2024, he emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in environmental preservation.
He stated, “For this City of Nairobi to be clean, we need the commitment from every individual. The County Government cannot do it alone.”
Similarly, the Nairobi Green Army, a group responsible for cleaning estates and unclogging drainage systems across all 17 sub-counties of Nairobi, has consistently denied involvement in any demonstrations or protests.
On August 3, 2024, they clarified that claims of planning demonstrations were baseless and politically motivated.
Tausi Opati, a spokesperson for the Green Army, stated, “We are not planning to have demonstrations in Nairobi, nor are we protesting.”
Given the lack of credible information supporting the claim that Mr. Mosiria or the Green Army have vandalized or removed signboards in Nairobi’s CBD, it is likely that this assertion is unfounded.
Both Mr. Mosiria and the Green Army have demonstrated a commitment to enhancing the city’s environment and maintaining public order.
