Nuru Okanga, a vocal political activist, and Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi have been involved in a public dispute over financial assistance and housing promises.
In August 2024, during an interview on Obinna TV, Sudi pledged to support Okanga with KSh 1.3 million to start a business and promised to buy him a three-bedroom house under the affordable housing program.
However, by September 2024, Okanga expressed dissatisfaction with the fulfillment of these promises.
He revealed that he had received only KSh 700,000 from Sudi, which he used to establish a posho mill business in his home locality. Okanga demanded the remaining KSh 600,000 and the house that had been promised to him.
This situation highlights the complexities and challenges in political support and promises. While financial assistance can provide immediate relief, the fulfillment of additional commitments, such as housing, requires careful planning and resources.
The public nature of this dispute underscores the importance of transparency and accountability in political engagements.
