Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii has announced a major reshuffle in his county cabinet, placing nine senior officials on compulsory leave.
The governor explained that the decision was made after a thorough review of their performance, and it was necessary to conduct a complete staff appraisal.
As part of the changes, Elijah Kosgey has been appointed as the new Executive for Education after being moved from his previous position in Public Service.
Dr. Sam Kotut has been reassigned from the Environment docket to Agriculture. Meanwhile, Edward Sawe has switched roles from Agriculture to Lands, and Anthony Sitienei has moved from Education to head the Water Department.
Governor Bii also made notable appointments, with Johnstonne Kotut being named Economic Advisor and Dr. Pius Kiplimo taking on the role of Chief of Staff.
These decisions came after a meeting held at the county headquarters, where the governor addressed the growing political rumors in the region.
During the meeting, Bii urged residents to ignore the political noise, emphasizing the importance of focusing on real work in the coming year.
“Let’s not get distracted by all the political talk. This year, we should focus on actual work and progress,” Bii stated.
Deputy Governor Evans Kapkea supported Bii’s stance, commending the governor for steering clear of what he described as “cheap politics.”
Kapkea reminded the public that when the time for politics arrives, everyone will have a chance to share their accomplishments.
“Come 2027, the people of Uasin Gishu will make their decision,” Kapkea concluded, reinforcing the governor’s message.
