n intention to distance himself from the party’s principles.

Aladwa pointed out that ODM has had powerful Secretaries General in the past, such as Ababu Namwamba, who eventually left the party after straying from its ideals. “I want to warn Sifuna, who calls himself the Secretary General of ODM, that we’ve had many SGs who were once very powerful, like Ababu Namwamba and others. Even him, he will end up like Ababu did,” Aladwa said.

The Makadara MP’s comments were a direct response to Sifuna’s recent statements. During a national TV interview, Sifuna had declared that he would not back President William Ruto in the 2027 elections, even if the ODM party decided to support Ruto. Sifuna also made it clear that not even Aladwa’s leadership in Nairobi could sway his decision.

In turn, Aladwa fired back, telling Sifuna to stop dragging his name into the controversy. “He should completely stay away from me. I have seen him throwing tantrums at me, and I want to tell him that his days as a Senator are equally numbered,” Aladwa warned.

The conflict deepened when Aladwa accused Sifuna of secretly working with Gachagua. His accusations stemmed from Sifuna’s recent appearance at a church service in Kawangware, where he was seen alongside opposition leaders Kalonzo Musyoka and Eugene Wamalwa—both of whom have previously expressed their openness to working with Gachagua.

Aladwa believes that Sifuna is being used by Gachagua to further his own political ambitions, particularly in the Nairobi gubernatorial race. According to Aladwa, Sifuna is being groomed to become the preferred candidate for the Governor’s seat in Nairobi, under a party aligned with Gachagua.

“Gachagua is using him, and even during the impeachment of the former Deputy President, he caused us a lot of problems. He just voted because others were voting. We know he’s being positioned as their preferred candidate for the Governor’s seat here in Nairobi,” Aladwa alleged.
