A devastating road accident occurred on the Nakuru-Nairobi Highway, near Nyakairu, on Saturday, March 1. The crash tragically claimed two lives and left twelve others injured.

According to a statement released by St John Ambulance Kenya, the incident took place late on Saturday night.

The accident involved a lorry and two personal vehicles, and the injured victims were quickly rushed to Naivasha General Hospital for emergency treatment.

“Two people lost their lives, and twelve others sustained injuries in a road crash at Nyakairu along the Nakuru-Nairobi Highway. The collision involved a lorry and two personal cars,” the statement read.

The swift response of the Kinungi Community First Responders from St John Ambulance, who administered first aid at the scene, was acknowledged for helping those in need.

Photographs from the scene, shared by St John Ambulance, showed the wreckage of the three vehicles, surrounded by bystanders who watched in shock and disbelief.

This tragic incident comes on the heels of another fatal crash that occurred just days earlier. On the Londiani-Muhoroni Highway, four lives were lost, and fifty-six people were injured.

The crash involved a passenger bus from Climax Sacco, which was traveling to Nairobi. The bus collided with a truck heading toward Muhoroni.

Witnesses reported that the bus lost control and veered off the road, eventually landing in a nearby sugarcane plantation.

“The bus swerved off the road on the left side, as one faces Londiani, and ended up in a sugarcane farm,” stated a police report.

The bodies of the four victims, three women and a man, who died instantly, were taken to St. Vincent de Paul Hospital Mortuary for identification and an autopsy.

In another incident, a church group traveling in a pick-up truck overturned in Malongo Village, Suba South Constituency, Homa Bay County.

The tragic accident claimed the life of one churchgoer and left fifteen others injured. The group was on its way to Suba Sub-County Hospital in Sindo to collect the body of a deceased church member in preparation for burial.
