Recent changes have been made to the leadership of several boards in different government ministries.
These shifts come under the authority of Cabinet Secretaries who have made key decisions regarding appointments and revocations.
On March 7, Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi issued an official notice announcing the revocation of Stephen Ogenga’s appointment as a member of the Kenya Accountants and Secretaries Examination Board (KASNEB).
While the reason for Ogenga’s removal was not disclosed, it is known that he had served on the board for over three years.
In a related development, the same Treasury CS, Mbadi, also reappointed Mercy Kiana as a member of the Board of Directors of the Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA). Kiana’s reappointment will last for the next three years, beginning March 7.

Energy and Petroleum Cabinet Secretary, Opiyo Wandayi, also made significant appointments. Wandayi appointed Martha Wanjiru Miano as a member of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Pipeline Company Limited.
This position will see Miano serve for a period of three years. Wandayi’s decision came with an official notice, citing the powers provided by the State Corporations Act and the Interpretation and General Provisions Act.
Miano’s new role at the Kenya Pipeline Company Limited follows her earlier appointment to the Micro and Small Enterprise Authority board on January 31, 2025. This appointment came after Wandayi revoked the previous appointment of Jane Njeri Mwangi.
Additionally, Co-operatives and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Development Cabinet Secretary, Wycliffe Oparanya, appointed John Wambugu Kihonge as a member of the Micro and Small Enterprise Authority Board. His term will span three years.
Lands Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome made an important move by appointing Ruth Okal to the Land Acquisition Tribunal. This appointment will play a crucial role in the tribunal’s ongoing operations and responsibilities.
Lastly, Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport, Davis Chirchir, appointed Wilson Mwai to the Board of Directors of the Kenya Ports Authority.
Mwai’s appointment is also for a three-year term, and he replaces Caroline Njoki Maina, whose appointment was revoked.

These changes in leadership reflect the ongoing restructuring and appointments aimed at enhancing efficiency and leadership within key government bodies.
