Shock as Video Shows Officer Celebrating Moments After Shooting Dennis Muthui During Majengo Protests, Watch

A disturbing video has emerged showing a police officer dancing moments after shooting 26-year-old Dennis Muthui during protests in Majengo Gorofani, Kamukunji Sub-county, on Wednesday.

The footage depicts Muthui writhing on the ground, clutching his stomach where he was reportedly shot, just meters away from the officer.

The officer, still holding his firearm, appears to be celebrating, drawing sharp condemnation from witnesses and viewers alike.

The incident occurred amid escalating tensions during protests sparked by the police killing of 17-year-old Ibrahim Ramadhan.

Demonstrations quickly turned chaotic, leading to clashes between police officers and residents. Initial police reports claimed that Muthui had been stabbed by criminals during the unrest.

However, an autopsy conducted by Chief Government Pathologist Dr. Johansen Oduor revealed that Muthui sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the stomach, contradicting the earlier police account.

Dr. Oduor stated that Muthui was shot at close range with a small-caliber weapon, likely a pistol.

During the postmortem, gun pellets and plastic fragments were recovered from Muthui’s abdomen, providing crucial evidence for the investigation.

These findings have been collected by the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) as part of their probe into the fatal shooting.

Muthui’s family is now calling for the immediate arrest and prosecution of the officer responsible for his death, as they begin their pursuit of justice.

The video of the officer’s alleged celebratory dance has intensified public outrage and scrutiny of police conduct during public demonstrations.

Human rights organizations, including the Kenya Human Rights Commission and Kamkunji Human Rights Defenders, have condemned the use of lethal force by police and are demanding accountability.

They urge IPOA to investigate the officers involved in these shootings to ensure that those found guilty face justice.

As investigations continue, Muthui’s loved ones and community members are demanding answers, questioning how such behavior could follow a fatal shooting.

The incident has further intensified scrutiny of police conduct during public demonstrations in the region, with many calling for reforms to prevent future occurrences of excessive force by law enforcement.
