Jacob Moseti, an 82-year-old man from Kisii County, is thankful to be alive after narrowly escaping a shocking murder attempt at Bosongo Hospital.
According to reports, two individuals tried to bribe a medical intern with KSh 10,000 to secretly inject him with a lethal substance while he was admitted in the male ward. Luckily, the intern refused to take part in the deadly plot and immediately alerted the authorities.
Relatives Allegedly Behind the Attempted Murder
Moseti, who is now recovering, has publicly accused some of his close family members of wanting him dead. He claimed they have been targeting him for years, falsely accusing him of practicing witchcraft. “They’ve always hated me and my family.
They don’t want to see us alive,” he said. Despite these threats, Moseti, who also serves as a church elder, firmly denied the witchcraft allegations, stating, “I have never used witchcraft to harm anyone. I serve God.”
Details of the Chilling Murder Plot
The attempted murder occurred on Tuesday, June 3, when two unidentified men entered the male ward at Bosongo Hospital with the intention to kill Moseti.
However, they initially struggled to identify their target. Eventually, they were reportedly directed by a nurse—who has since been arrested—to convince a medical intern to carry out the killing by injection.
According to the intern’s account, he became suspicious and decided to record the incident for evidence. “I asked them why they couldn’t just come with me to identify the patient, but they refused.
So I told them to give me their phone so I could record after doing it,” he explained. He was offered KSh 10,000 as a bribe but chose to do the right thing and inform the hospital administration and police.
Arrests and Suicide Attempt
Police have since arrested three people in connection to the plot: the nurse who made the initial contact with the intern and the two men who attempted the bribe.
It has also been revealed that the nurse works at a different hospital, raising concerns about patient safety across health institutions in the region.
After her arrest, she reportedly tried to harm herself and is currently under close observation.
The suspects will remain in police custody for 14 days as investigations continue. Officers are trying to determine the full motive behind the chilling plan and whether there may be others involved.
Public Outrage and Reactions Online
The shocking story has sparked strong reactions from Kenyans online. Many praised the intern for refusing the bribe and protecting a human life, while others expressed concern over the safety and ethics of some health workers.
Mbaabu Wa Limungi commented: “When you walk with God, He will always protect you. This man was saved by divine intervention, just like in Psalms 91:3.”
Collins Serem added: “That intern was about to score a dangerous deal, but thankfully, he chose the right path. Now the plotters are in hot soup!”
Leah Sobusca wrote: “How can someone study for years to become a medical professional, only to throw it away like this? That’s a life wasted.”
Sharvil Murunga remarked: “These kinds of medical workers are dangerous. Greed and evil have taken over their hearts. Let them face the full force of the law—and may they find repentance.”
Marion Akeyo said: “If this happened in Kisii and we already know about it, then what about the similar incident at Kenyatta Hospital where a patient was reportedly slaughtered and authorities claimed ignorance? This country needs answers.”
A Wake-Up Call for the Medical Field
The incident has raised serious questions about the safety of patients in Kenyan hospitals, particularly regarding the ethical standards of healthcare professionals.
The fact that a nurse from a different facility allegedly orchestrated such a plan has left many wondering how safe patients truly are, even in trusted medical institutions.
As investigations continue, the public is hoping for justice for Moseti and stronger oversight in hospitals to prevent such horrifying plots in the future.
