The Ministry of Repentance and Holiness, led by well-known preacher Prophet David Owuor, has firmly denied claims circulating online that the world would come to an end on Saturday, August 2, 2025.
In a bold and clear statement issued on August 1, the church strongly rejected the rumors, calling them false, misleading, and harmful. The ministry said that the false reports were meant to damage the image of Prophet Owuor and the church itself.
The statement, which was signed by Senior Archbishop Michael Nieswand, emphasized that the Bible is very clear on the subject of the end times. According to the church, anyone claiming that Prophet Owuor predicted the end of the world was either misinterpreting the Bible or spreading falsehoods intentionally.
Quoting from the Bible, the church referred to Matthew 24:36, which clearly says that no one knows the day or the hour when the return of Christ will happen—not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only God the Father.
“We, the leadership and congregation of the Ministry of Repentance and Holiness, strongly reject the recent wave of false and misleading reports claiming that the world will end on August 2, 2025,” the church stated.
“These accusations are not only untrue and without any basis, but they are also malicious and clearly designed to damage the good name of Prophet David Owuor and the unity of the Ministry of Repentance and Holiness,” the church added.
In response to the spreading rumors, the church appealed to journalists, bloggers, digital content creators, and social media users to stop sharing information that is not verified. They urged everyone to practice responsible communication, especially when it involves matters of faith.
“As people of faith, we are called to walk in truth, peace, and righteousness,” the church continued. “We must not be quick to share rumors or gossip, but instead seek wisdom through prayer, discernment, and unity in the body of Christ.”
The rumors about a supposed doomsday began spreading on social media in late June, causing confusion and debate online. While some people appeared to believe in the prediction, many others criticized it and called it fake news, which eventually pushed the church to respond officially.
Prophet David Owuor is one of the most recognized religious leaders, not only in Kenya but around the world. He is famous for organizing massive gospel rallies and is easily identified by his signature white suits. His followers believe he performs miracles and that he has had several divine encounters.
Despite the recent false reports, the Ministry of Repentance and Holiness has reassured its members and the public that it remains committed to preaching the true gospel and guiding people according to Biblical teachings.
